Hey all! I'm back! Sorry for not blogging the past 2 weeks... I just wanted to be sure of... something. But thats all cleared out now =P sooo anyway...

Look what I found in the papers today!

Yeah! Its another hip hop compeition! I dont think I'll be participating thou, unless the entry fee is like free or something (which is highly unlikely). Firstly, I dun think I am good enough yet and secondly I dont really have a partner at the moment lols.

Met up with obasan and pea yesterday! I played para para with obasan =X she beat me flat thou lols. I wanted to see how far my footwork has gone since I first started bboying, so I decided to play the entire game with just using my feet (do toprock only) I could manage at first x.x but some of the moves I really totally couldn't do at all lols. More pratice man!

Anyway, I've been having a kind of shoe fetish at the moment =X I had alot of free time today so I decided to do a little shoe review and how it affects dancing =P (Note: I didn't actually use the EXACT shoe as shown in the picture. I have my own shoe)

-------------------------------------
First up is...

Typical Track Shoes!

Summary (Upon 5 Scale)
Toprock: **** - The standing part of breakdance
Floorwork: ** - The floor part of breakdance
Drops (Stability): *** - The part where you transit from standing to floor
Weight: ****

The good:
I picked new balance shoes because I feel in my opinion that they have more cushioning and are lighter than many other track shoes. Basically I liked the feeling I got when I was doing toprocks with this shoe. Its very stable and doesnt have too much grip, so it allows me to change directions very quickly and spin alot which is a really great plus. I literlly got addicted to toprocking when I used this!

The bad:
The grip on the pair I tried (its a new pair btw) SUCKED. It was so bad it was very difficult to do cwalk in it. Adding to the fact that it is very chunky at the heel, as most track shoes are, it was very very difficult to shuffle. (Shuffle abit and your heel would have touched the floor).

Most track shoes have tapered heels, meaning the heels doesnt have an edge and are rounded. This is a very big minus when I was doing floorwork. The tapered heel didnt give me enough grip to change directions when I was on the floor. I could only change directions by using the side of the shoe instead. More personal preference really

Another thing which sucked was the weight. It is still quite heavy, so when I did handstands, I could feel as if there was something stuck to my leg. Not that it really affected much, it just got me a little bothered. Would probably wear out when I wear it longer.

Next Up....

Ultra Lightweight Sneakers

Summary (Upon 5 Scale)
Toprock: **
Floorwork: ****
Drops (Stability): ***
Weight: *

The good:
Ultra lightweight! Thats obvious. The most common form of ultra lightweight sneakers are of course nike dunks (not the new airforce one series). Besides the sole, everything else is just a piece of leather. Thin and allows your leg much air which makes it quite comfortable.

Because its so lightweight, when you're doing handstands or anything, you will feel like theres nothing on your leg. So for all those of you who like praticing barefoot, this shoe is gonna be heaven.

Most sneakers also have a really sharp edge of the heel. Which is a great plus for doing floorwork. You can just jam the heel into the ground and move quite easily.

The bad:
To make the shoe light, your shoe manufactuer would probably have removed almost every inch of coushioning on the shoe. Which would make it really painful if you were to do Ci-cis or come down really hard on your foot.

Due to the lack of coushioning on the shoe sole, doing toprocks is not a very enjoyable experience too. (But still ok).

The worst part? Too much freaking friction. This is a problem with most sneakers anyway. The friction is quite bad which will make it quite difficult to spin during toprocks.
------------------------------------

Lastly...

Normal Sneakers!

Summary (Upon 5 Scale)
Toprock: ***
Floorwork: ****
Drops (Stability): ***
Weight: ***

The good:
This kind of sneaker is sort of an in-between of the track shoe and the ultra light sneaker. It has quite an ample amount of padding. I used the adidas superstar for this one. Doing toprocks is not as bad as before because of the padding. However you wont beat the track shoe in this one. Most sneakers have a 'dead sole' which means there is nothing in it to buffer the impact when your leg contacts the floor.

Floorwork is much nicer now because of the edged heel and the increased coushioning. Now you dont have to care where you smash your foot on the floor because the choushioning will take the punishment. An added plus of the adidas superstar? The toe portion is made of hard rubber. Extra protection when you're doing Ci-cis or other 6 step shit.

The bad:
Alot of friction! As mentioned before its very annoying. Personally I would wear a sneaker a few times first before attempting to dance in them to just kill some of the friction first.

Due to the amount of padding, its quite hot in there, which can become quite annoying if you wear thick socks.

There is nothing in the sole to coushion your impact. So if you come down hard? Its gonna hurt.

Well thats it! =P hope you liked my review lols
